Hey everyone I’m Hippie!! I started my Fujo journey through my love of BL Dramas. Every story I tapped into was just as or sometimes even more enjoyable than my BL Dramas. Most importantly I really enjoy when they merge together and I get to see Love actions to a few of my reads. What I love most about the fandom is the acceptance of who you are and the ability to find someone with shared interest. My fandom has helped me find friendships in my niche and a place to find amazing content.

I have always been a major consumer of media and fiction. When I was small I started reading chapter books. I loved giving my mind a place somewhere to go. Whenever the world around me seemed to be spiraling out of control, I let myself wander off into fictional worlds until I was ready to face my own reality. As I grew older and got more access to the Internet, I found myself in spaces where people were creating media based on the mainstream books, movies and shows that I loved. That is how I found myself in all of the fandom spaces I now occupy. 

I consider myself a professional fan girl, so I don’t slot myself into one fandom. One thing I love about fandom is that you can be a part of multiple communities and still fit in. Every community, although different, are all based on a love of something external and beyond ourselves. 

The only thing that I would change about fandom spaces is the thought that the fiction that you consume is a reflection of your own moral reality. I wish we all understood that you are not what you read or consume.

Depression, and discovering one piece live action brought me to everything else I enjoy today. Each of my spaces are different. With cosplaying it allows me to be creative and meet new people, with BL it allows me to enjoy romance I don’t actually participate in, with anime it allows me to enjoy action and fun. It saved me from a really dark time in my life and I was able to discover many more facets that can stem off of that original introduction. More friendly engagement all around but also I’m for black people. I’ll always be black and a woman above everything else.
